Important update: O4A is becoming O4

Starting today, 02.02.2026, O4A becomes O4, a brand evolution that reflects how the practice has grown.

We’re not changing direction, as our work, people, and values remain the same,

but we’re showing a clearer expression of who we are and how we work today.

Why?

When O4A was founded, the name Office for Architecture was intentionally neutral. It allowed the work to lead, without spectacle or assertion.

Over time, the studio evolved. The projects grew more complex, the team expanded, and the work increasingly involved aligning more people, systems, and responsibility, often in public and institutional contexts where clarity matters more than cleverness.

The original name no longer fully reflected that reality. That’s why we see this as an evolution, not a rebranding.

What isn’t changing:

  • The team and leadership

  • Our focus on public, civic, cultural, and institutional work

  • Our approach: alignment before form, process before imposition

  • Our commitment to responsibility, care, and long-term thinking

O4 continues the same practice, with the same people, delivering work with the same rigor and accountability.

There is no change to contracts, legal structure, or ongoing projects.

What is changing:

Call us simply “O4”.

Our legal name, however, remains

the same: O4 Architecture Ltd.

New logo, new colors, same quality.

We’re just improving the way we

Quick questions, quick answers

Is O4A the same firm as O4?

Yes. O4 is the evolution of O4A. Same practice, same team, same work, just under a new name.

Important to note that our legal name remains the same, so no changes are needed from the accounting or legal side.

Are you changing your design approach or services?

No. Our approach remains rooted in alignment, responsibility, and clarity. The evolution reflects how we already work.

Does this affect existing or ongoing projects?

No. All projects, relationships, and commitments continue uninterrupted.

Why did you change the name?

When analysing our brand we found that, as the practice matured, the original neutrality of our name began to obscure rather than clarify. As we explored alternatives, we stumbled upon the idea of becoming O4, detaching our name from its original meaning while having some new, extra freedom to grow beyond.

This new name had still a clear link to our origins as O4A, honoring our past, but it also reflected something else. We found that, in chemistry, O4 is a rare state of oxygen that only appears under very specific conditions of alignment, creating something that is as uncommon as it is full of energy.

We liked that this idea mirrors how we see our work: architecture emerges when people, ideas, materials, systems, and context come together to create something bigger.

O4 is both an evolution of our name and a metaphor for what we do: creating the conditions for connection, clarity, and transformation.

When will the change be complete?

You may still see O4A somewhere for a short period, but we’re working hard to make the transition 100% effective as soon as possible.
